My name is Sharon (Sherri) Harris. I grew up in a little town in south Arkansas called Gould, where I went to school though the 8th grade. In the 9th grade, my friend and I decided that we would attend Mount Saint Mary's in Little Rock. We lived with her aunt and uncle and attended MSM through the 12th grade. After graduating, I attended the U of A at Fayetteville and the U of A at Monticello. I graduated from UAM with a Bachelor of Arts in Education being qualified to teach K-6.
I got married in 1977 to the LOVE of my life and best friend, Lynn. We have two wonderful daughters who are almost 8 years apart in age. Linzi is 37 and Leigh is 30. Linzi is the mother of my THREE grandchildren. Yes, that is right!! I am the GMA to 15 year old Graysen, 14 year old Maddox, and 4 year old Eli.
I have had the privilege of teaching at Fulbright for many years. I have taught for the Little Rock School District for 43 years. I started my career in 1978 teaching a daily Math Lab which consisted of working with groups of 8-10 children. After many years of Lab teaching, I decided I wanted my own classroom of students. So, I began teaching first grade. This was an experience that filled my heart with joy. I LOVED watching my first graders grow in their knowledge and blossom throughout the year. After many years of teaching first grade, I decided I wanted to change schools and grade levels. I made the GREAT decision to teach at Fulbright. I was assigned to a third grade classroom. Well, I fell in LOVE for the second time with third graders!! Their excitement and LOVE for going to school lets me know that I am doing my job. Working at Fulbright, I knew that I had found my home for the rest of my teaching career. My ultimate goal is to educate, motivate, and inspire my students to have a lifelong LOVE for learning.
